This is Christina. The monsters call her “Mammasteena”, and she is a keeper of the great monster slide between here and the other side. When a monster wants to come on over to this side and experience some life in this dimension, they show themselves to Mammasteena and she draws them, pulling them down the monster chute and into this world.

Christina is an artist, a mosaicist and an independant creative. Mother of 4 humans, she lives in Northern Italy, near lake Garda. In the 25 years of her career, she has had exhibitions and commissions all over the world, and you can see more about her “normal” art career at www.christinaayer.com.

The Monster Tribe is just us — just Christina and the monsters. No big companies. No empty brands. No wasteful consumption. Just a grassroots authentic artist with original, intimate art that resonates with our inner-most and truest selves.

Collecting monster tribe art means sustaining an independant artist, a small business, a woman entrepreneur, and a creative neurodivergent. It means joining a tribe that celebrates real and authentic human connection and creativity, and makes consumption choices that reflect that.

In the autumn of 2025 I was in what could be called a creative drought. I had the feeling, I had the need, but everytime I went to the studio, nothing would connect.

It didn’t feel like drought, though. It felt like…gestation. Like something big was coming but it wasn’t ready yet…

Then the flashes started — an eyestalk just at the edge of my peripheral vision. A laama-esque snout in the light behind my eyelids.

And I thought “oh my” and I thought “this needs recording”.

And so I did, I started drawing. For the first time, I tried drawing in the same way I paint, with no ultimate goal and no starting position – just gesture, line, intuitive flow that then takes a form all its own, until it is a real personality on the page.

And so the monsters started pouring out of me, through me, and into the world in search of their humans and their tribe.

There are lots more questions to answer, important questions with answers that can change the way you see the world and the way you live in it…questions I get asked all the time.

Like “why monsters”, or “where do they come from, what is this other side”, or “how do you find them? how do they talk to you” and so on and so on.
